Winston-Salem was recently ranked by U.S. News as the 31st best place to live in America. The close proximity of these formerly independent towns is the result of a shared history. The ground for the town of Salem was first broken in 1766 by members of the same Moravian Church that later sold to Forsyth County the land that would become Winston.

The city of Winston-Salem incorporated in 1913. As with many North Carolinian cities, it owes much of its early prosperity to the tobacco and textile industries. The success of these businesses allowed North Carolina’s economy to diversify into the many industries – including education, finance, and research – that characterize it today.

Winston-Salem is home to Salem College, the oldest continuously operated educational institution for women in America. Five of Winston-Salem’s other colleges and universities – Wake Forest University, Wake Forest School of Medicine, Winston-Salem State University, Forsyth Technical Community College, and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts – administer Innovation Quarter, a research park located on 330 acres in downtown Winston-Salem.

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center (which includes the School of Medicine and Wake Forest Innovations) is Winston-Salem’s largest employer. Reynolds American, Inc (a direct descendent of the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company) and Hanesbrands Inc (directly descended from North Carolina’s early textile industry), Wells Fargo, and Trust Financial also make Winston-Salem’s top-ten list of employers.

Winston-Salem’s diversified, forward-thinking industries have a wide range of material handling needs. And Richmond Rack – with over 20 years in the industry – is proud to be a part of Winston-Salem’s innovative growth.

We help our clients by developing creative solutions to their material handling needs. We offer racking and conveyors of all kinds, new and used, from all the major brands.

Our cantilever racking is ideal for large, bulky items such as furniture, large fixtures, or lumber. Pallet racking increases storage space efficiently and economically, allowing maximum storage and easy accessibility. Add wire decking to increase the stability, and more easily store open- and split-case boxes.

Our conveyors can help you move large or small product throughout a facility. Whether you need a simple roller & wheel conveyor to increase the throughput and safety of your team, or system of sortation and accumulation conveyors to properly manage your site’s workflow, we have the material handling solution that is right for you.

Industrial platforms and mezzanine are cost-effective solutions to increasing a facility’s square footage without changing its footprint. These systems effectively create a second story that can be used as storage, office space, lunch rooms, or more work area.

Protect your investments and employees with guardrails. Dangerous areas can be safely cordoned off, and valuable equipment protected, by adding inexpensive and easily assembled guardrails. We offer columns, rails, brackets and gates to control traffic in and around your facility.

At Richmond Rack, we’ll do more than provide you with the materials. We’ll help you configure your warehouses and other facilities to more effectively store and move your product.

Unsure what you need? Contact us today to learn more about our racking applications and warehouse configurations.

We sell only the most trusted brands of new and used warehouse equipment.
